About
I am a Software Engineer with 20 years of experience in software, release, and site reliability engineering for enterprise SaaS products.

Over the course of my career, I have had broad experience with designing, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex software systems and infrastructure hosted in Linux containers (VMWare, AWS containers, AWS serverless). This includes infrastructure as code using terraform, SQL and NoSQL database design and querying, distributed caching, queue driven data processing, instrumentation, and web/network traffic management.

In the work place, I enjoy being actively engaged in various levels of technical leadership, from scrum team to cross release train groups, and always happy to be included in design and architecture discovery and review. Previously I was also involved in engineering hiring, including reviewing candidate applications and performing technical interviews.

In my personal life, I would consider myself a serial dabbler. I enjoy picking up new skills and hobbies. Photography, carpentry, electronics repair, 3D printing, CAD, and more.

However, my passion has always been Computers and Open Source Software. I have built and maintained multiple PCs, for productivity and gaming, and I have been daily driving Gentoo Linux for almost 20 years. I manage small networks using open software like DD-WRT and OpenWRT. I maintain packages in Gentoo Linux, and have made contributions to various Open Source projects such as Gentoo Linux, Cinnamon Desktop, Mozilla Firefox, and GRUB.

Caligon Studios was created as an umbrella for all of my projects. What might that include? Right now I have projects in digital art, programming / open source, game design, and web design. I'll probably dabble in a number of other areas, but who known until I get around to it. But for now, I'll be putting up stuff once it's in a state I deem publicly presentable, and who knows how fast that will happen.

In short, this is mah stuff. Projects happen when they do, and stuff gets posted when it does. EOL.

If you were interested in hearing bout the studio as a formal workspace, I'm sorry to disappoint but I don't have one. Most of my work is done on my laptop, which goes with me pretty much everywhere. When I do need to setup a workspace (e.g. for photography), it's usually an impromptu setup built in my room from flashlights, copy-paper, and tape. So it's nothing really fancy, but it gets the job done.
