CephaloVision

CephaloVision begain in 2009 when we became interested in applications of biotechnology. What could be more interesting than blending biology and technology? Inspiration for this project came from an article done by the NYTimes that featured animals that could camouflage them selves using pigment changing skin. Some notable examples of these animals are the cuttlefish and Octopus.

The Octopus and Cuttlefish caught our attention is because of the wide range of colors that can be produced and the speed at which they can be changed. This basically leads to a more versatile and dynamic display.

The reason this concept is interesting to us, aside from the uniqueness, is that we see a definite lack in display technology. Most displays are currently actively lit, which makes them unsuitable for outdoor use. Hopefully, as this concept is developed, it will lead to a technology that is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Currently, our project is still in the research and development phase, but hopefully we'll be able to come out with a working prototype some time soon.
